Being in love is a beautiful feeling one would always wish to have for the rest of their lives.
However, that same beautiful feeling can become a painful headache, when you find yourself in a relationship with the wrong person.
Every relationship has its good and bad side, but it becomes dangerous when the bad turns ugly, leading to assault and in worst cases murder.
According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report, as many as 38% of all murders of women are committed by intimate partners globally.
Some of these partners try and fail at suicide attempts; others abscond while the ‘unfortunate’ ones get arrested.
For instance on 10th March this year, a business man was arraigned before the Madina District Court for the death of his wife, after a physical assault.
Several other cases have been reported this year. Like how a man murdered his girlfriend in Ho also in March, and tried committing suicide.
Another woman unfortunately suffered a similar fate in the hands of her husband who stabbed her to death at Nyankyerenease in the Ashanti Region.
Now, what has really got me riled up is an incident that happened on Monday November 22, where a lady was found in a refrigerator after being murdered by her boyfriend.
It’s got me wondering, what are authorities and gender rights activists doing about this rising spate of Gender based Violence.
If another woman dies, she adds to the number of families who are suffering avoid in their hearts from the loss of a mother, a sister or a daughter.
I leave our state authorities with this question, “Is losing a life the expensive price a woman must pay for love??!!”
